About The Author

Steve Witmer

Steve’s teenage years were spent in the rugged ranchlands of Northern British Columbia. After marrying Becky in 1975, they embarked on a 15-month “honeymoon” in a small log cabin in the Canadian Rockies, surrounded by majestic mountains and untouched wilderness. The couple then ventured into a variety of vocations, including farming, logging, trapping, tree planting, firefighting, carpentry, and first aid.

In their late twenties, they joined Youth With A Mission with their two young children, Heather and Shannon, and had the opportunity to serve alongside Wally and Norma Wenge at Gleanings for the Hungry.

During their time at Gleanings, they became part of Wellspring Christian Center and developed robust connections with Pastor Doug Hagey and the congregation. Their involvement led to a surprising call to join the pastoral staff at Wellspring, resulting in a move to Dinuba, California, where they ministered for a decade.

As the new millennium approached, they were sent out as missionaries to Canada by the Wellspring Congregation, returning to Northern British Columbia. Steve took on the role of Foursquare Church Supervisor for Northwestern Canada while also serving as the Senior Pastor of Bible Fellowship Foursquare Church. Currently, Steve is involved in transitional coaching, intentional interim pastoral work, adjunct professorship, and clergy care retreat leadership for Focus on the Family, Canada, and mentoring many pastoral leaders.

Steve has been associated with Gleanings for the Hungry since 1986, bringing busloads of youthful volunteers annually to witness the remarkable changes at the organization. He currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer on the Gleanings Board of Directors.

Steve and Becky have celebrated 49 years of marriage and are blessed with two married daughters who have given them five beautiful grandchildren.
